The Challenge
Create a children's maxi dress that combines traditional patchwork with contemporary wearability — a piece that feels handcrafted and special while being comfortable for active wear.
Inspiration
Block-printed cotton fabrics in bohemian florals — the kind of textiles that feel alive with pattern and color. The five-tier structure emerged from wanting each fabric to have its own moment while creating visual flow.
Design Development
Fabric selection focused on finding prints that would complement each other across scales — smaller patterns at the bodice, larger florals at the lower tiers. The smocked bodice was developed to provide adjustable fit and stretch.
Construction
The fitted smocked bodice features bow-tie shoulder straps for adjustable fit and easy dressing. Each of the five tiers was carefully cut and assembled to create a flowing silhouette that moves beautifully.
The Result
A dress that proves handcrafted children's wear can be both visually special and truly wearable — comfortable for active play while feeling like something worth keeping.
