Cruella De Vil Aerial Silks

A performance costume designed for aerial silks, bringing the iconic Cruella De Vil aesthetic to the aerial arts. The design balances theatrical impact with the technical demands of silk performance.

Design Concept

The costume translates Cruella’s signature look into a functional performance piece. The dalmatian print—sourced from NYC’s garment district—is combined with color-blocked panels in black, white, and red to capture the character’s bold aesthetic.

Technical Construction

The costume is built for the physical demands of aerial performance:

  • Four-way stretch fabrics throughout for full range of motion
  • Athletic mesh grip panels strategically placed for silk tricks
  • Heat transfer logos for durability through repeated use and washing
  • Reinforced seams to withstand aerial maneuvers

Fabric Sourcing

The dalmatian print fabric was sourced during a trip to New York’s garment district, selected for both its visual impact and performance-appropriate stretch and recovery properties.
