Design a hand-knit sweater that captures vintage cruise aesthetics while being wearable across generations — a piece that works for both adults and children.
Inspiration
Classic nautical cruise wear from the golden age of ocean travel — the varsity stripes, the navy and gold palette, the sense of purposeful elegance that defined shipboard fashion.
Design Development
I developed the color work pattern to balance visual impact with knitting efficiency. The varsity-style gold sleeve stripes required careful gauge calculations to ensure consistent proportions across sizing.
Construction
Hand-knit construction with navy body, gold sleeve stripes, and contrast ribbed trim in cream and red. The relaxed fit was refined through multiple test swatches to ensure comfortable drape without losing structure.
The Result
